Winter Bike Tour—California Desert Escape

Daily Itinerary

 

Day 1: San Diego to Pine Valley

Our tour begins in the morning in San Diego, on the Southern California Coast. We gather on Shelter Island overlooking the bay, at the Half Moon Inn. The location is conveniently near the San Diego Airport and the Amtrak train station. We’ll shuttle from San Diego into the countryside east of the city, where we will begin our ride on country roads to the tiny town of Pine Valley. Lodging for the night is at the simple yet comfortable Pine Valley Inn.

Day 2: Pine Valley to Borrego Springs

We ride from Pine Valley along the Sunrise Scenic Byway to the historic town of Julian, where some may wish to have lunch. From Julian, we head east to the desert oasis of Borrego Springs, where we spend the next 3 nights.

Days 3 & 4: Borrego Springs

We spend 3 luxurious nights relaxing in Borrego Springs at the secluded 4-diamond La Casa del Zorro Resort. Daily rides begin and end at the resort.

Day 5: Borrego Springs to Temecula Wine Country

We say goodbye to our desert oasis and ride (or shuttle) up and over the San Ysidro Mountains to the burgeoning wine country of Temecula. Here we spend our final evening together relaxing at the Inn at Churon Winery, where we will be treated to a private wine tasting.

Day 6: Temecula

On our final day, we take one more ride through the foothils of the Temecula Wine Country. After returning to the Inn at Churon Winery, we shuttle back to San Diego and the Half Moon Inn in the late afternoon.

This twice-a-year Winter bicycle tour through warm and sunny Southern California is limited to 12 guests, so we recommend reserving space as early as possible. You may hold your space now, either by phone or online.
