Daily mileage will vary, and there will be options to ride less or more each day. The range is estimated to be 22-75 miles.
While it’s always difficult to predict the weather, the temperatures tend to be mild, and rain tends to be sparse. In the desert of Borrego Springs, it rains an average of 2 days per month in the Winter, the average high is 74F, and the average low is 47F. Evenings and early mornings in the desert can be quite cool, and there is one climb over a 4,000 ft. pass, so please bring warm clothing.
When researching a trip, we seek out dining options with healthy, fresh choices typical of California.
Nobody goes hungry on an Undiscovered Country trip! One of the joys of riding several hours per day is getting to enjoy the dinner afterwards. We generally give you the choice of ordering anything on a restaurant's menu: order appetizers, soup, salad, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note: to ensure prompt service we sometimes order from a more limited menu.
Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at your own expense.
Breakfasts are either continental style or made to order.
We gather on the first morning of the trip in Palm Springs, at the Renaissance Palm Springs, conveniently located near the Palm Springs Airport.
The trip officially ends in the mid-afternoon on the last day, also at the Renaissance Palm Springs.

This was the best bike trip i have ever been on. First of all: great people. Susan and Laura were wonderful - fun, thoughtful, interesting, knowledgeable, kind, smart, organized. The hotels were great, especially the Santa Ynez Inn - WOW! I have been in the Paso Robles to Solvang area many times but never on the great roads we traveled this trip. And the food! We ate like kings at fantastic places. The bikes are all excellent carbon frame and extremely well maintained. Before the trip, i was sent a tape measure and asked to measure various dimensions of my bike and when i arrived for the six-day tour a perfectly sized bike awaited. The saddle was great and the bike was outfitted with the pedals i needed. Each day our fearless guides took turns riding with us or taking our luggage by van to our next destination. Somehow, in between all this, beautiful picnic spreads magically appeared just when we needed it. Truly, a great, great trip! Can't wait to take another Undiscovered Country Tours trip.
