Half Moon Bay Pacific Coast Weekend Bike Tour – Overview

Half Moon Bay Pacific Coast Weekend Bike Tour - bike route map

Get away from the hustle and bustle of the Silicon Valley without leaving the area!

You will not believe how close you are to the frenzy of the San Francisco Bay Area as you ride through the scenic mountain roads over to the quiet little coastal town of Half Moon Bay.

Over the coastal range on roads that time has forgot, through wonderful micro climates, redwood tress, and the Pacific Ocean, you will agree that this gem of a tour is the perfect respite from the busy world of Silicon Valley.

We begin our 3-day bike tour at the Undiscovered Country Cycling Center here in Los Altos where we then head up and over the coastal range with a stop at the Famous Bike Hut before we end along the shores of Half Moon Bay. The next day we ride through areas that are so beautiful that the Amgen Tour of California insisted on including them in their stage race. On the final day, we continue through this magical area of marvelous micro-climates and back into present day Los Altos.

Northern California Climbs Indeed

I was looking for a challenging cycle tour and UDC really delivered. Each of the daily routes were expertly planned to cover classic climbs up (and down) the major grades of Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino counties. The scenery was often spectacular. The remote locales we traversed contrasted with the very civilized, superb lodgings and eateries awaiting us. Our guide, Michael Sojka, was attentive, helpful and personable. UDC's attention to detail is impressive.
