Just a short drive from the bustling San Francisco Bay Area, Monterey County encompasses some of California’s most stunning scenery while offering world-renowned recreation.
From the dramatic Big Sur coastline to romantic Carmel and Pebble beach to historic Monterey waterfront, to the hidden wine country of Carmel Valley, the area serves up a delight of scenery from the saddle of a bicycle.
We begin our 4-day bike tour at the famous Cannery Row of Monterey, riding from there into the unhurried Carmel Valley, resting between the coastal Santa Lucia Range of the Ventana Wilderness and the oak studded Sierra de Salinas Range. Carmel Valley is a cyclist's secret getaway: just a few short miles from the attractions of the coast but tiny and unhurried to provide the ideal setting for some relaxing rides on nearly empty roads. From this tranquil base in Carmel Valley, we take daily rides through the region: Carmel Valley, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Fort Ord, and the Monterey Coastal Trail.
We just finished the 11/11/12 Central California Coast tour. What an awesome experience! This company thinks of everything and really pays attention to detail! Our tour guides, Mike and Gary, were just right. They had lots of biking knowledge, great mechanical finesse, and they were lots of fun! The riding was excellent as were accommodations and food! The bikes provided were high quality and well maintained. We cannot say enough good things about Undiscovered Country! We will be back!
